Oldham County was established in 1824 and named after Colonel William Oldham. A rural community, Oldham County received its first railroad in the 1850s and people began to populate the area. Now, Oldham County has many newer developments and has become one of the more properous counties in the state.  It currently has the highest median household income of any county in Kentucky.

The population of this county is rising quickly, with more and more residents moving from nearby Louisville. The county has become one of the fastest growing in our area in part due to the award winning school system

As they say in Louisville, nothing is further than 20 minutes from town.  Many areas in Oldham County are within this range, as there are numerous expressway systems within easy access.

Oldham County's largest city is LaGrange and is on the National Registry.  It is home to one of the best historic shopping districts in the state. Its charming Renaissance revival-style courthouse was erected in 1875 and sits in the middle of town. La Grange is an town where you can sit in a quaint cafe and watch the train go slowly down one of the main town streets in front of the courthouse!  Equine farms dot the landscape and the folks are friendly and welcoming.
